How to play this version
Press start and your car begins moving down a three-lane road automatically, with the road itself accelerating gradually as your distance total climbs. Oncoming traffic appears at the top of the screen in a randomly chosen lane and moves toward you; use the left and right arrow keys, the on-screen buttons, or a swipe gesture on a touchscreen to shift your car into an open lane before a vehicle in your current lane reaches you. Your distance score increases continuously for as long as you survive, and colliding with any oncoming vehicle ends the run, at which point your final distance is compared against your saved personal best.
Reading traffic patterns rather than reacting to single cars
New players tend to focus on the single closest oncoming vehicle and react to it individually, which works fine at low speed but starts to fail once the road accelerates and multiple vehicles are visible on screen at once. A more effective approach is scanning the whole visible stretch of road as a pattern rather than one car at a time, planning a lane position that stays safe for the next two or three vehicles rather than just the nearest one.
